Thoroughly enjoyed this! Found myself nodding along and restacking. What Gen AI tools are you finding most useful for bringing the half baked creative ideas to life?

Personally, I don't think gen AI is capable of designing initial brand assets—even with the right prompts from creatives—for now. Its primary value today is designing executions of already existing assets. I think that will change in the near future.

But, I know of people I respect who disagree (Stef Hammerlinck over at Let's Talk Branding goes into more detail on tools you could use to design mascots and play with them consistently).

However, I'm still skeptical AI will ever design distinctive logos. They often need a completely distinctive shape and gen AI won't know how to even approach that. There is a lot more freedom to transform other assets, using familiar images, into something magical (I.e. the Geico gecko just looks like a generic gecko, until you hear him talk and see him within the insurance industry). But totally foreign images and shapes—which are required for logos given their restricted creative applications—require totally foreign thinking.
